hi gardeners
this is a thread more to put my mind at rest really...as you know i recently brought a compost bin,i managed to get about 15ib of old fruit and veg past its sell by at work the other day along with loads of cardboard....i opened it up this morning and there was shed loads of tiny little flies in there...at 1st i thought oooo nooooo, but my partner says not to worry its part of the natural process of the fruit /veg &cardboard breaking down...now my partners not often wrong, well thats what i tell her,lol it seems to keep her happy so am i frettin about nothing or do i get one chance to go ner ner ner your wrong at my wife
my second point is i hear conflicting advice about the ratio of fruit and veg waste to cardboard ,some say 50/50 and others say more 70/30 i presume 70 would be in the veg's favour..im not entirely sure and dont want a big pile of smell in my compost bin lol
cheers guys
Nik.
