I'm planting tomorrow and I dont want to underestimate the distance and cause them to choke one another, the idea I had in mind was 6 Inches.

Are you planting into the ground or into a raised bed? If you do it in the ground you need to leave a foot between the rows for walking and hoeing. If you do it in raised beds I allow 4 inches between my onions and carrots in all directions.
