Please don’t be offended but, PLEASE do build your own, much bigger and deeper pond. In south east England we had two weeks of -18c. That is enough cold to freeze any water less than 18” deep, solid. When you think that a "Gold Fish" is really a small member of the carp family and fully grown will be around 12 inches long. They are capable of living for 40 years if well looked after. It is a myth that goldfish only grow to the size of the space available. They will be stunted and their internal organs will not be able to mature. That’s why they always die! All he/she will do is eat and pooh for about 6-10 hours a day polluting the water with high levels of nitrates and carbon dioxide. They will breed copiously. They will consume large amounts of oxygen as will your water plants. At night the plants will reverse and release carbon dioxide into the water. EACH goldfish should have about 76 l; 17 imp gal of water or 1.5 square foot of surface water.
Please don’t believe the manufacturers as they will never tell you the truth about their products. Read online goldfish forums that are run by enthusiasts not fish product companies. Your pond looks beautiful but in a short time will be deadly to your fish. I would move the goldfish to your new larger pond and leave that one for wildlife. It’s perfect for frog’s toads and newts.
