Hello!
Thought I'd mention something I'm doing later this year and try to muster a bit of support. In September, my friend Victoria and I plan to walk coast to coast along Hadrian's wall. We are hoping to do this in four days. This is a massive challenge to us both as neither of us have done anything like it before! We will hopefully be walking an average of 21 miles per day, the walk is 84 miles long. We are trying to raise as much money as possible for the charity Ovarian Cancer Action. This is a rather personal cause as two years ago, aged just 49, my mum was diagnosed with the disease, and given little or no chance of survival. However, I am thankful every day that it is two years on and she is still with us and still fighting. She is a complete inspiration to me and my family and we all pray that she will carry on fighting and be with us for a long, long time yet. You may be pleased to hear that she has started growing and eating her own organic produce since finding out she has cancer, as we all know there's nothing healthier than growing your own! She is also the inspiration behind my new found obsession with growing fruit and veg! Ovarian Cancer Action aim to increase awareness of the symptoms of this disease, so women can be diagnosed earlier before it is too late. They also offer support and advice to sufferers and their families, and carry out inportant research with the aim of improving survival rates and treatments available. I hope you will visit my justgiving site and have a read, and consider making a small donation to this cause. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. I would also appreciate any helpful advice from those who have done a similar walk! Oh, Tracy, I am so sorry to hear your very sad news. My Mum was just 56 when the cancer finally took her. I nursed her at home. It seems like only yesterday. Good luck on your walk Tracy.
God bless. |

Thank you for the kind words Lesley, I'm sorry to hear about your mum too. It is just so terribly sad that so many lives are cut short by this disease. We also looked after mum at home right til the end, which was what she wanted and the least we could do for her after everything she had done for her family. I miss her so much already. You must know exactly how this feels, I hope things are easier for you now.
David, thank you so much for your support, it is greatly appreciated. I will certainly say hello to Hadrian for you! Thanks again, bestest wishes to you both xxx |
