Default Looking for a good expert's book for my Dad

Heya, all

My Dad, in Norfolk, is a keen vegetable gardener, and has been for many years. He has a big back garden with land in lovely condition now, after years of nurturing it, and grows some marvellous veg. But he's been looking for a a new book or two for some time, as all of his are 30 years out of date, and recommend strains and pest treatments you simply can't get any more. He hasn't found one... basically because he never visits a bookshop!
But it's his birthday soon, and I'd like to buy them for him - but I'm 100 miles away in Lonodn and I'm not going to be able to be there for his birthday this year, so I'm going to need to do that online.

Can anyone recommend a good modern vegetable gardeners book that covers pest control, soil condition, strains of veg, latest rotation ideas, etc? A "proper" book, rather than the beginner's "stick a spud in a growbag, and look, it grows!" type.

I'd really appreciate your help!

Default Books

Hi Scorch,
"Welcome"
You will get many recomendations on good books

The Books i would advise on taking a look at, would be "The Expert Series"
By Dr D G Hessayon.
They have an Expert title, for most things,,, The Vegetable Expert, the Bedding Plant expert, the greenhouse Expert, etc etc etc
I have found these particular books a great help, set out well, with great info and good pictures, and i think reasonably priced.
Hope the above helps,cheers stupo

I would go along with what stupo74 suggests. I have had the veg one for 20 years and still find it useful
