Default Water Butt Advice

Hi Everyone,

Please go easy on me as firstly I am new to growing vegetables.

I have noticed that I am using rather a lot of water so want to invest in a water Butt. The type I am after needs to have some sort of water collection within the lid as I have no downpipe on my guttering as it is in next doors garden.

Any advice would be appreciated...

hi kirkie

couldn't you just buy a regular water butt and leave the lid off......is your neighbours down pipe on your side by your fence...maybe if you got on well enough with him and promised him some veggies he may let you plumb ya water butt from the down pipe.....i only say that as im lucky enough to have the downpipe on my house but im sure if my neighbour had the downpipe that was on my side then im sure she would let me put a pipe on ,id drill a one inch hole out of my fence panel and put a foot of tubing through but making sure you only have a thrird of that showing on your neighbours side ??

i know its a long shot but maybe something worth thinkin about

hope you find your solution

Nik

Thumbs up why buy those expensive water butts in garden centre

Why?? I got these on e.bay

Recycled 220 ltr water butt/barrel/container/storage... on eBay (end time 06-Jul-09 21:34:49 BST)

sounds expensive for a start but they are frost proof. mine been outside full of water completely frozen during that cold spell last year. no probs with them at all
