Soil conditioner for ex-lawn source

Any suggestions people?

Where should I go for large quantities of 'compost' to prepare what was a lawn for use as a vegetable bed? By 'large' I mean a bag or two like those that builders have sand delivered in. Oh, and I'd need it delivered too! Do any garden centres do this? I live in the Leicester area

If you join your local Freecycle group you may find people giving away good topsoil.
