Default Purple Sprouting Broccoli

At last my OH likes broccoli so I thought about buying purple sprouting broccoli plants.......will they grow in containers cos I believe they're large plants and is there such a plant as green sprouting broccoli? Is it the right time to plant does it over winter?

Hi Cookie. I'm growing PS in containers. They're about 18" high and I've had to put stakes in to stop them falling over. It definitely over-winters 'cause it doesn't produce 'till early Spring. Watch out for the Cabbage-Whites, I'm crushing their eggs daily.
Their is green-sprouting broccoli, I work in the food idustry and we get it sometimes. Tastes exactly the same as cauliflower but you pay much more for it LoL
