Default Next question already - sorry! - where to buy plants?

A friend has pointed me in the direction of the Rocket Gardens and I love the sound of their winter vegetable garden packs, and the whole idea of creating an "instant" garden.

They seem to be (to me anyway) quite expensive though, and I don't think we even have the space for most of the packs. If I got one it would have to be the window box garden, but I think a lot of that would go to waste as unfortunately I have to put up with a fussy family and it doesn't look like it contains much that could at least be frozen.

I think I probably mentioned in my previous post that I was looking at the winter veg selection here. 60 plants certainly sounds a lot more manageable.

Is there anywhere else out there that I can try for plants? I suppose I could take my chances with the local garden centres, but we're mainly stuck with the likes of B&Q or Focus around here and I've not always been happy with the quality of the plants we've bought from them in the past.

Any recommendations gratefully received! We're not particularly flush at the moment so I want to make sure I don't end up making a huge balls-up, otherwise we might as well be giving our cash to Mr Tesco.

Cool

Hi Ali P,

To be honest with you, they are very expensive. Also if there are plants that you don't want then it is a complete waste of money.
It would be cheaper to by a a couple of hard plastic containersand seeds and compost from wilkonsons. You would probably save more than half the money that Rocket Garden wants. Also you buy what YOU want to grow. I know Wilkows sell seeds this time of year as I have got some ready for my allotment for next year. Don't waste your money I say. I think they are jumping on the bandwagon of the increase of home growers, but inflating the prices quite substantialy.

Hope thathelps !!

i have to say i bought the rocket garden plants and after 2 weeks we are harvesting our own salad. yes it was fairly expensiv but they came ready to put into the containers. no fuss at all.

In spring i will probably sow some seeds but may also get some plants form them as i have tried salad varieties i and my father in law, growing for 60 years, have never seen before. and they are fantastic.

They do look very expensive, but I can't say I'm not tempted to give them a try myself.
