Default Boot tidy/lettuce planter??

Hi all - bought a boot tidy from B & Q yesterday because I wondered if I could use it to grown lettuce in??? Its 8 inches deep. Having never grown lettuce in containers before was wondering if the depth of the boot tidy would be enough to grow lettuce in??? And also - could I grow it in the greenhouse???

I think you should be okay! My pot that I am growing in is about 10'' deep, they have just been moved today to the pot (fingers crossed it all goes well).

Just try not to over crowd.

I know lettuce don't have deep roots so you should be OK.

hi susie
i've got three plastic mushroom type boxes on a table under a covered pergola the shallowest is 1" and the deepest is 2 and ahalf " they all grow the same rate and very nice to, but need a lot of water i keep a quarter of an inch water around them all the time ,they had a bad case of wilting in this heat but a drink of water brought them back, can't see why you could'nt grow them on a kitchen windowsill pete
