Default Growmore/carrots in pots

I ran out of space in my garden for the carrots that I wanted to try and grow this year so I decided to try growing them in pots. I think the pots are big enough, but I put quite a lot of growmore in there. Basically what I did was put a heap of soil from my garden into the pot, sprinkled my seeds over the top and pretty much covered the whole of the surface with growmore. Is anything likely to come of my efforts?

In case it isn't glaringly obvious, I'm a novice

hi poderoop
welcome to the forum
there is no problem growing carrots in pots, (as long as there big enough)
keep the pots up high to stop carrot fly attacking your plants.

I doubt it. The Growmore will do for them. BUT, I`ve been proved wrong before.

I grew carrots in containers a few years ago using just soil and a little fertilizer..it worked pretty ok but this year I'm growing them in same containers and using a good quality compost..the results are way better...just the watering needs to be carefully watched.

I find root veg way harder to grow in pots than top veg. I sprinkle a little superphosphate into the soil and mix before transplanting seedlings. Then a weekly feed with general purpose fert and seaweed is what they get. I have wonderful beans, gooseberries, peas, herbs and beetroot this way. I prefer to grow the golfball size Parmex carrot in pots.

we too are trying carrots in pots for the first time... we got hold of the pack of 3 bags from B&Q and the middle size (we think) was a good size for carrots although the jury is still out however they seem to be coming on really well (so far).

We are doing our entire veggie growing in pots and bags of varying sizes and it will be interesting to see how they turn out.

Good luck with yours... you don't know unless you try how things work!
