Default Asparagus in pots

I was just wondering, as asparagus is a permanent plant in your ground for year after year crops, is it possible to grow them in a pot and just add feeder to it regularly or is it not possible?

I too was wondering this. Ive got my eye on a half wine barrel and wonder if it would be a good home for asparagus. I plan to just keep adding compost on top every spring.

I just did a Google search "asparagus in container" and there is a bit of info there. Most say don't bother, the plant need lots of room.
another link to a book titled "movable Harvest" on container growing, claims even asparagus can be grown! would love to hear of anyone's success.
