When are my potatoes ready

Hi all.... I have some Potatoes in tubs and the foliage is now growing like fury and I am now wondering how will I know when they are ready for harvesting. Being in a tub it is a bit difficult to have a look at the spuds.
Please help.... Frederick

I would say lift one and see what`s under it.

I lifted mine and had a fantastic suprise enough to feed 5 for 5 dinners. They were called saxon. They went in container 16 March 2009.From Marmite.

Hi Frederick, if it is the potatoes you planted in August then they should be ready to harvest in October. I usually wait until the plants stop growing and I even let the foliage start to die off before harvesting.
