Default Plans for next year..

Strawbery alexandria
tomato ailsa craig
tomato gardeners delight
herb: Oregano
Herb:Basil sweet
carot Chantenay 2 red cored
rhubarb victoria
runner bean scarlet emperor

We currently have 2 long flower beds (well 3 but the other is getting flowers in it because it's our hamsters resting place). 2 square big pots. I think I'll most likely need some more than that.

I'm really excited about the seeds I brought. We're going to plant them next year. I have a lean too concervitory which we were planning on getting a covering of some kind for the winter to protect the plants. I intend on putting the carrots in large boxes.

Anything I should know about the veggies and what type of care they need etc. I want to grow organicly so I don't want to use pesticides etc. But we get a lot of snails in my garden so advice is apeciated. We grew sunflowers this year which we really enjoyed and want to do something bigger next year.

Hello and welcome to this happy forum. If the leanto is heated your options are endless. I am restricted on space and I still over do the seed planting bit. I had 20 parsnips left over and I put them in my mother's front garden, and they seem to be doing well. I sadly lost my gold fish so I put him in the bottom of now drained pond and filled it up with good compost. The cabages done well. You could plant in containers and move them around. I got some damaged recycling boxes from council and grew spuds, parsnip, carrotts, and salad stuff, not all in the same box mind you.Enjoy the forum, enjoy the fresh veg, but most of all enjoy life to the full. Fondest regards Marmite

Unfortunatly the leanto is not heated. If it was I would be growing veg early :P If it was mine I would have heated it. But we rent. I'd love to have a big gardent to grow things in but our garden is quite small. I think the best thing my leanto can provide is shelter from extreem weather. There are no doors or windows on it.

Your oregano will grow, but it won't taste of much if you grow it outside. It needs hot sunny Mediterranean weather to develop a decent flavour, so it really needs a greenhouse. Basil is also much easier to grow in a greenhouse or indoors. Maybe you should invest on one of those plastic mini-greenhouses?

Basil seems to attract aphids like nobody's business
