Hi
I've recently decided to add a pepper plant to my container growing collection and have been keeping it in the greenhouse coz i figured that was best. In the past few days however I started noticing traces of a white powdery substance on the soil which has also spread to my herbs. Today I went in there and there was loads of it (it's like someone's poured flower around the base of the plant! It's on the soil not the plant itself). Ive moved the plant outside and watered it thinking that would help. The powder puffed out like talc a little but the main bulk of it is still there. I had recently made the mistake of putting chicken poo straight on this plant, which I then removed the next day. Could that be anything to do with it or is this a seperate problem entirely? Any clues as to what this might be would be greatly appreciated Thanks Salli x ![]() |

Hi Salli, clouds of white dust is usually the sign of white fly. Take a look underneath the leaves to see if there are tiny white dots.
