Hi,
I am growing in the tropics of Hong Kong and all in pots. mainly tomatoes and peppers for the time being but have a lot of problems. i use potting soil, but it seems that that holds it water to much and to long sio every 2 days watering is too much, i think thats why some of my plants die as they may rot? next i have enormous problems with animals eating the green soft leaves, almost to the point that i end up with no growth at all......slugs and other animals i suppose.....what to do to allow my tomatoes to start growing enough first? I have a blogpost with some images in it if you wish to see them: Garden Update — Snail Snail, go away come again another day! « Cosmopolitan’s Blog and a more recent post here: WTF? Gardening update « Cosmopolitan’s Blog I would really appreciate some tips to let me make this into a success as i planted over 100 plants so far! Thanks a lot! |

Hi Farming Chef and welcome! Watering does take alot of time but you should always water plants from the base, rather than over head with a sprinkler, to prevent fungal diseases such as botrytis and downy mildew plus scorch. You can smear around the outside of plant pots with vaseline as the slugs slip off, but I really do like this idea of Mark's that is cheap and works! Read post no.7 on this link:-
Do I Need To Protect My Lettuces From Slugs, Etc?
