my first harvest

hey everyone, i thought i should let you know ive harvested my first every crop, its a lettuce. I felt bad harvesting it tho lol..


i really wasnt sure if it was ready but i didnt want it to bolt (i assume bolting is where it flowers then is no good???)

i cut it at the base, picked off the bad outside leaves, washed it, then made chicken salad wraps with it

2 questions, how do you all store things like lettuce in the fridge...they usually come in bags and also can i recycle any of the compost i grew it in as it was grew in a container??

Oh wow... it's so exciting isnt it?! We've grown our first salad leaves and lettuces this year and have been having it almost every day for the last two weeks... it's so fun!

I havn't had full heads of lettuce but I imagine they will be ok in the drawers of the fridge.

thanks hollie, ive put it in a plastic bag for now as ill be eating it all week

still 2 more lettuces outside ready too so looks like im good for a while

ill try to get some photos on here so people can see if i harvested too early

Oh yes I would love to see some pics! Yumm Yumm! I do like flowers and things, but being able to eat something that was weeks before just a little seed is so amazing!

Yes excellent work would love too see some pics I have some little gems on the go and I have no idea what there meant too look like when there ready
