Micro-Gardening
I just read a really interesting article by Bruno de Wachter on Micro-Gardening.
In this article the author argues that Micro-Gardening - also called Guerrilla Gardening, Square Meter Gardening or Parking Space Gardening - is a really great way to spare the environment and help solving the global food problem.
According to some experts on Micro-Gardening, on just about 36 square yards you can grow enough vegetables to feed a human being for a year.
Consequently more and more people have begun to grow their own gardens in the most unlikely places. Many of these micro-gardens can be found in inner-cities. In such a country (city) as Singapore, around one fourth of all the vegetables that are consumed, are grown in inner-city gardens.
I really find all this very interesting, and quite encouraging to me as a gardener. Gardening is not only a great way to relax and get some exercise, it's also a fantastic way to spare the environment, eat more healthy and solve the global food problem.
Best,
Anette
