Great Andii

You could do with putting the cucumber plant into a bigger container. There's no need to remove the peat pot first - just plant the whole lot, then it doesn't disturb the roots or upset the plant.

Its already re-potted! I honestly didn't think it was strong enough to survive. It just shows!

Hi Andii, by growing the plant in such a small pot it probably thought that it's days were numbered, so the plant flowered to produce fruit and seeds ensuring that the next generation was sorted!!

Well done!! they are so cute aren't they? lol

Mine are coming through the flowers as well but at different rates, the ones at the bottom of the vine are quite big, the rest are really tiny...hope this is normal!

I'm already looking forward to next year (told the husband I'm investing in a proper greenhouse) and its going to be a long winters wait to start again

Edited to add: I love your username lol

Hi Scottishbaby

The name is because that is all I have been shouting for the last couple of months to my family!!! And then I drag them outside to have a look.

I did save up for a greenhouse but had to pay the mortgage with it Now I just have 2 of the mini plastic ones.

Another exciting development, sorry if this is getting boring now. My Dwarf Green Beans are flowering. Ohhhh! I can almost taste cold beans, garlic, olive oil and vinegar

Andii,

i'm new here but i love your thread. I'm growing vegies for the first time too, I have courgettes, tomatoes and cucumbers too, and my plants look very much like yours so I completely understand your excitement. We've had our first courgette and we have a faily large cucumber growing too and loads of tiny ones, I also have loads of tomatoes on my 6 plants, but was soooo excited when I saw the first one - just waiting for them to ripen now, it feels like forever. My lettuce has been fab, very impressed with it we've had loads of salad!

Please keep posting your pics

Nicola

Hi Lesley and Nicola

Yes the beans are cooked first!! They are delicious like that.

Nicola, thank you so much for your comments. Its nice to know I am not boring everyone but it is so exciting when you see things growing that you have planted. Like you I am very impressed!

I have also had one ripe strawberry, there are more on the way but this one was ready ages before the others. Have you every tried to cut a strawberry into 3 equal pieces? I have.

I will continue putting pics on, now I have had a request.

Andii
