hey. just wondering if anyone can tell me whats up with my peas. they are between 1 and 5 inches tall and just dont want to grow. a few of them now have a couple of pods on as if they are giving up and trying to seed before they die

How long ago did you plant them? What did you plant them in, soil, compost? containers?

When we first planted our's back in late May they seemed to stay at the 6" stage for quite a well and we were getting quite impatient. Then later they suddenly kicked into life and crawled up the canes to a height of about 1-2 feet and the pods followed a couple of weeks later.

Overall, not enough pods produced for the effort. They do taste great of course but the return doesn't warrant the space they take up imo. I will probably stick to buying bagfuls from the shops unless I can raid a farmer's field

sorry ace.. missed your reply. They were probably planted about the same time as yours but they never even made 6 inches, nor sprung to life, there are a few with a couple of pods on as i said but the rest are now turning brown and dying off

Hi,
I planted mine out really late and they havent even made it to 6 inches! They have come into flower but they aren't doing any climbing!
Lesson learnt for next year to get them in early!

After all that success I had with those planted at Easter, my new crop grew about 1cm and then some snails came and ate them all! So I don't think I will be getting any!
