Default potatoes

i want to plant potatoes in containers is it too late to start now and if not whats the best to grow?

I think you're probably too late. Check out T&M website below as they give you planting time for each potato cropping group.

As you can see, the earliest show from Feb onwards. I also want to grow potato next year so I'm only learning, no experience as yet to speak of!!!

I think T&M is useful guide but once you've decided which potato you want to grow, I found that alanromans.com does pototoes at a cheaper price although some fancier potatoes (like Mayan Gold & Vivaldi) you won't find there. Apparently Alan Romans is a potato consultant to T&M and he has written is own book on potato. Happy potato growing next year.

Too late now i,m affraid start thinking about what ones you want for next spring (March April main planting time)

Container potatoes are the way to go. Year before last we had a superb crop using huge buckets. This year we planted a few rows on the allotment and they all got blight and were riddled with slugs.
