Unhappy tomatoes won't ripen

Hello new chums !, this is my 3rd year trying to grow in my (mostly) containers garden, my problem is that my produce grows, but never thrives, Tomatoes particularly, I get plenty of crop, loads, but, apart from a couple, they never ripen, I'm awash with green tomatoes!, I don't over crowd the grown back,(2 plants per bag) I feed, pinch back side shoots, string/cane support, in all day long full sun, so.....heavy crop......but all green , pleas can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
thanks, Sunnyvenice.....

Hiya sunnyvenice. Im not sure what you're doing wrong but im sure someone may be able help you shortly. I must admit that i did have the same problem but i actually put mine into a different position in the garden and a week later, they started turning red and since then, ive had a really good supply. Mine are in hanging baskets secured to the sides of a bird table as all my veg is in containers at present,so i moved it over to the other side of the garden and it seemed to work.

Hi Both,
Plenty of "Red Spray Paint" available
No ideas here but a few people seem to be having the same problems this season.
You could always take some of the fruit off the plants, and pop on the windowsill, or even put into a brown bag with a banana skin, which will speed up ripening, however, as i don't eat toms, i could not say weather this would affect the final flavour of the fruit.
Plenty of "Chutney" will be made this year then???????
cheers stupo.

Anyone know whether it is best to leave the green tomatoes on the plants in the unheated greenhouse or pick them and bring indoors? I would like them to ripen as don't like chutney! The leaves have mostly died off. Thanks

Veg

I stopped feeding and watering my outdoor toms several weeks ago now. The leaves and stalks are brown and dry. The tomatoes ripen naturally without any splitting skins.

The pics below show the very last of my crop, very few green ones as I too hate green tom chutney.

Loads of red tomato chutney made this year, so really chuffed.

i grew tomatoes this year in grow bags and mine didn't ripen well so i picked them and put them in a box on a layer of newspaper and covered them with newspaper and they slowly ripened.
my late dad grew them for years and about now he would put them under the bed in trays and they would ripen
hope this helps
