Default Container cucumbers

It has been a few years since I grew cucumbers indoors in the winter, and I forgot how difficult it is to do so. My wife wanted me to grow them, so what choice did I have. I selected a small variety, Spacemaster, but I have to hand pollinate them. Still, it will be nice to have fresh cucumbers in January. I have two fruit forming and lots of flower buds forming.

Wow, this is only my second year growing veg and I didnt even know you could grow them inside in the winter. They look great. I didn't do cucumbers last year so decided to give it a go this year. I grow all my veg in containers as I live in rented property. I had quite a succesful first year and cant wait to get back in the garden. I'm growing some gherkin seeds this year and have started off 10 seeds today. I've got them in small pots in a propagator on my windowsill. Do you think I've been impatient and started them too early. They're in my spare room so I was planning on keeping them indoors for quite sometime.

Any help would be great. I also started off 12 tomato plants and 8 lettuces, again all on my windowsill and very last minute I found a pack of sumer cabbage seeds and stuck 6 seeds of those in too without any research at all.

I plan to also grow a variety of peppers, runner beans, courgettes, aubergines, carrots and I would really love to try a pumpkin plant in a pot but I have no idea if thats even possible

It is hard to determine if you are too early as it depends on the last frost date in your area. Ours is toward the end of May so I start my plants about eight weeks prior to then.

as above plant toms, cucumbers and most lettuces about 6-8 weeks before the last frost, but try to get them outside on nice days to harden them off. the last frost in the uk is between late march and early may depending on where you live.

See my post today in the kitchen garden section.
My tomato's and peppers are growing like wildfire so much that I will have to pot them up and move them to my unheated greenhouse

Well, I can say that I am really surprised form the awesome results that you get. I am newbie in container growing and I hope that I can learn a lot of helpful tips here. The picture is amazing and makes me hungry. I will definitely check that opportunity, because I have much space in my house. How much it will cost to start? Please tell me how much I have to invest and where is the best plase where I can buy seeds for indoor garden. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am growing outdoor cucumbers in a container this year. I grew some
In my vege patch last year and the vine was only about 40cm long
So I hope they'll do ok in a container. To tell the truth my vege patch was full and I didn't want to not have any cucumbers so found a big upturned water butt support which I hope will be perfect for my cucumbery friends
