Default Fuchsias

Can anyone tell me why some of my Fuchsia's leaves have turned yellow and fallen off, they are in hanging baskets. Was it because of the very wet summer, the darker flowered ones are alright, I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this?

I would think its the same as with other plants. Its Autumn, the time when lots of plants shed their leaves. Also the weather is a lot cooler now. Perhaps you may be watering too much as the growth in plants slows down at this time of year. Hope some of these suggestions may be useful to you.
I have fuschias and the leaves are falling from them also.
As an after-thought, did you check for diseases? Do they have green fly or white fly?

Hi, runnerbean. I'd go along with Bramble on this one. They're all beginning to look a little "tired". You're right though, the darker ones do look a little happier.

Thanks Bramble and Cajary, I meant the leaves turned yellow, and dropped from as early as July, and it left them looking like stick insects, I looked for pests, and diseases, and non was evident, I'm fairly certain it was all that rain.

Most plants don't appreciate being over watered so I reckon you will be right Runnerbean. I did a quick Google and found this smashing info. It includes how to grow standards, over wintering and taking cuttings.

Thanks Lesley, I am going to really get down to doing a bit of studying fuchsia growing this winter, as they and lillies are my most favourite, and I've never tried a half or full standard, so it will be a bit of a challenge, if this rain ever stops!
