I think it's when they are big enough to handle, growing the second set of leaves is usually a good sign, maybe leave in the propagator with lid off for a few days so as not to shock them too much. What type of chilli's are you growing?
I've got some 'heatwave' and tabasco, but they are being really slow, still only the 1st set of leaves and they've been in the heated propagator since mid feb ![]() |

I find that getting them out of the propagator and into large pots as fast as possible massively helps their growth. Mine doubled in size overnight when I repotted them last year, and within a week were over four times the sizes. It's as though they can just sense they have more room to grow in, even though the roots were still tiny. Hope this helps. Also I found it better to repot them straight into the pots they were going to live in long term.

Yup, wait for the second set of leaves before trying to move them. try and keep the damp and leave them to settle afterwards. you will be amazed, just as golden14 says, they will grow like mad once theyre in bigger surroundings!
