Default Tomato Side Shoot

Hi and thanks in advance for any help. This is my first year growing tomatoes (very exiting!!) and have read loads and loads of what to do and what not to do. I have read to pinch out side shoots but think I may have missed one. Can anyone tell me in the picture if I should still pinch this branch out even though its so big??

Yes I would. It is easier on the plant if you pinch them out when they are smaller but it shouldn't do the plant any harm. I've cut off larger shoots than that and the plant was fine.

Yes they are the ones to remove. As mags16 says get them smaller if you can but I have missed them larger than this! Just keep the leading shoot going.

I would pinch it out and stick it in a pot of compost, it will root and give you a slightly later crop.

I think it is 50/50 on the pinching out argument, I have tried both and found little difference in the crop yield, try doing it on one plant and not on the other

I pinched one out of that size the other day. Only afterwards did I notice it had the startings of a flower truss on it . . . Wish I'd left it now . . .

Ali.
