Default Help! I don't know what I'm doing!

I was hoping for some advice concerning my scarlet Runner Beans and Tomato situation. This is my first time growing anything at all, and at first I thought I was doing really well. My beans shot right up! But now some of the leaves are getting white scars on the edges. Is my plant dying? Could it be overcrowding, overwatering? Eeek! I'm worried.

Also, my tomato plants have stopped growing. I started them indoors as we have such a short growing period up here in the great white north, and transplanted them outside a couple of weeks ago. At first they were doing well, but for the last week they haven't done anything at all. They still look healthy and happy, I'm not sure what's wrong. Any advice for a balcony garden noob?

We had lots of sun up until a few days ago when the rain started. But, my balcony is covered, so my plants dont get rained on. They get a lot of direct sun though, and it was very hot for a few days there.

ummm...the lowest we've gone in the last couple weeks is 11 degrees celsius, over night, and we have hit a high of 36 during the hottest day. But we usually hover around 20degrees, I think. Sorry I can't be any more specific, lol.

it's not uncommon for young plants to sulk with extreme min-max temps, you have a 25 degree difference there.
as long as the tops look ok i wouldn't worry, they'll be growing root instead of top.
my dwarf dahlias were looking great until last wed-thur when the temp got as low as 2.9c.
they sulked and went a bit pale looking, but temps are up and theyv'e bounced right back.

Silll sulky plants. I hope they perk up soon. But, yes the tops of the plants look fantastic, so I suppose i don't have to worry so much. Thank you for the peace of mind Texeltommy!
