Question Growing Veg In Containers

Next Spring, I am going to grow lots of veg in containers, I was wondering if there are any seeds recommended for container growing? and do I need to probably water them more than if they were in the ground! Any ideas or tips would be welcome.

This was my first year growing vegetables in containers Runnerbean and I used 'normal' varieties although there are vegetables specially suited for container growing. Parmex and Little Finger are two carrot varieties, there is a dwarf runner bean Hestia and dwarf french beans Purple Teepee and Kenyan Safari. Remember to have some hanging baskets with tomatoes in - Tumbling Tom or Balconi Yellow.

I grew courgettes, squashes and cucumbers one plant per 10 inch pot and these were left to scramble across the vegetable patio. They were doing great until we got all that rain and they were drowned!! Borlotti beans and climbing french beans went in bigger pots with a wigwam to climb up. Next year I aim to grow much more in containers so fingers crossed for the weather!!
