I chitted them and nothing much happened, so thanks to advce from smiley sue, i think it was, i shoved them in the ground AND 8 days later they show, amazing! The problem am having, or at least i think it is ! Is they keep poking through every couple of days. Am i doing something wrong? I earth them up, covering all the green and one to two days later they`re back! I thought the show of green would or should take longer than that to show?
Had a quick read and apparently i should earth up untill about 30 cm at this rate its going to be next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can someone give me an idiots guide and tell me if I am doiung it right!!!!! Many thanks, Sandra |

I plant my spuds and earth up at the same time. I dig a trench half a spade deep put in the seed potatoes and then earth up the row to about 9 inches tall. It's the way I have always planted my spuds and it always works for me!

Hi Lesley many thanks for the reply, I had another look online this morning! And I found some information about letting the greenery grow to 10 to 15 cm then earth up so that only 5 cm is showing!
That sounds more sensible than my earthing up nearly everyday! My poor spuds must be wondering whats going on! Thanks again, Sandra |
