Default What you been up to?

As I am a first time grower (well so far a few radishes) I have planted out my broad beans, garlic, winter cabbage, cauliflower and turnips and so far no complete disasters (well as far as I can see). I would like to know what everyone else is doing I need a few tips and help really. I have a 3 acre field to play with (but not doing the whole field) but need a bit of advice I am really stuggling with the weeds seems to be an ongoing battle that to be honest I am not winning. I did dig it all through before planting but they just keep coming back with more passion than before any advice would be great.

Hi Nikki,

It will take a number of years to get rid of weeds. Don't give up. By taking the weeds up by the roots will get rid of a lot of them, but unfortunatly you just need to hoe them when they pop up. Another way, which I use is put the plot into smaller sections or border off some beds. This makes it much more managable. What you have planted is a good start. Try some onions as well and garlic if you like them. The most important thing is that you don't give up as you have probably done the hard work. As i said, the weeds will deminish through time.

Today I did what you said and have sectioned off 8 beds and covered some with black sheeting (read that helps somewhere) the rest are planted up. I put some onions in today so thank you for that tip. It's just hard to know what you should be doing when theres nobody to ask so thanks for the reply paul
