I bought one for my wife from 'I Want One Of Those' as a Christmas present.
After less than one month's operation, one of the (long life!) bulbs failed; the other one failed soon afterwards. My wife telephoned the vendor, who said that they would send replacements, free of charge, but that they were out of stock at present. A few days later and the herbs have started to wilt, despite the unit being on a windowsill in the daylight (such as it is at present). It has occurred to us that even if the herbs seeds were to be replaced, along with the bulbs, the same thing is likely to happen again when the bulbs next fail. We have just discovered that it is recommended to change the bulbs every six months, even if they should last that long, at a cost of around £20 per pair (including postage). That is £40 a year, plus the initial cost of the unit of £120. I am not sure that this is a viable proposition, even if the herbs survive the bulbs failing. Accordingly, we have written to the vendor requesting a return for refund. I have just noticed that their web site is not accessible, which is a little worrying. Have they gone out of business? I would be interested to hear of anyone else's experiences. |

Hi John, their site does seem to be down but I have found their trade / affiliates site which has a phone number which I hope helps you. I've made a note of the phone number incase that site goes down aswell.

We have sent it back to them, but are waiting to see if the credit card refund has gone through. I also noticed recently that they recommend replacing the bulbs every six months, which makes the running cost much higher. |
