Default Where to buy seeds?

I've made a list of the seeds i need to buy but i was wondering if anyine has used this website??

Alan Romans

The seeds seem to be really cheap.

I got £30 of National Garden Vouchers for xmas but i thought i might spend them on something else as the Alan Romans site seems much cheaper than a garden centre.

Hi Adam, Alan Roman is a highly respected seed potato 'guru'. I have never tried his vegetable seeds but going off his reputation for excellent certified Scottish seed potatoes the vegetable seeds must be okay.

I have ordered seeds from quite a few different seed merchants and germination rates can vary between the different suppliers. One year out of three packets of tomato seeds from the same supplier not one single seed germinated. Another year I bought a selection of squash varieties from a different supplier because the range was good and they weren't expensive. Again not one single seed germinated. I expect 100% germination from the seeds I buy, even though the regulations are that only a percentage of the seeds in a packet need to germinate. I think with tomatoes the regulation rate is 75%.

I now stick with my favourite seed merchants that normally give 100% germination. They are Thompson And Morgan Seeds, Plants, Seed Potatoes, Fruit, Bulbs and Gardening Equipment from Thompson & Morgan Suttons Seeds Flower seeds, vegetable seeds, flower plants, vegetable plants, organic seeds, seed potatoes and Seeds By Size SEEDS-BY-SIZE VEGETABLE SEEDS & HERB SEEDS LISTS 2008/2009 TABLE OF CONTENTS

Take a look at our links page for Seeds, Plants And Fruit Tree Suppliers and check out their prices.

There is another one that has good prices - Laura's Organics.

Just to add about buying seeds from garden centres. Ideally seeds need storing somewhere cool and as most garden centres are huge greenhouses which are baking hot during the summer months these are far from ideal storage conditions. I also believe that you will get fresher seeds if you buy direct from the seed merchants.
