Default Dead Fish Fertilizer

My boyfriend has been clearing out his deep freeze, he has given me a load of frozen mackerel that had been in there for about 2 yrs, he says I should dig them in to the allotment tomorrow as they will be good fertilizer, is this right?

Burying dead fish under veggie plants is something that the Native American Indians did and some people still do today. It's something that I have never tried.

Can`t say as I`ve ever tried it, but in years gone by, people used to " plant " dead animals near grape vine roots.

I've just got back from the plot, it's a nightmare, something has been digging it up, there are bloody great holes everywhere, and loads of seagulls milling about, one of them kept dive bombing me... ARGGGGGGH!!!!!

Hi Rosie.

I am sure there is truth to this as there are lots of fish based products on the market. I understand that this promotes root growth.

LOL about the cats..
