Default In need of advice

Hi all,
I know this isnt the correct place for this. Im in need of some advice on something to screen my garden from my neighbours as we do not get on. I was thinkin of putting chicken wire up and climbing russian vine plants up it. But i was suggested Bamboo. Any advice as to what i can use it needs to be all year round cover. i thought about fence but costs far too much now adays.
All advice is welcome and could you tell me if im wrong by thinking Russian vine or Bamboo.
Many thanks
Andrew

Andy Russian Vine and Bamboo can create more problems for you. The `Vine is rampant and the Bamboo is likely to be invasive. I would suggest conifers, specifically Thuja plicata, Western Red Cedar. it is the perfect hedging conifer.

My Nana had Russian Vine in her garden when i was younger it took over everything, be prepared to do ALOT of pruning if you do end up putting that in, it may also cause more problems with the neighbours as it will take over there garden as well :S

Hi Andrew, Dog Roses are good for hedging. They are fast growing, thick, climbing and prickly. You also get rose hips after the flowers.

Andy, Leylandii WILL grow faster, about 3ft a year once established, but, because it grows faster it will make more work for you. Thuja, on the other hand, grow about 2ft a year and only need a trim once a year, They also make a denser hedge than Leylandi, they also have aromatic foliage.

I agree with David on the Thuja, however while they do grow quickly they can also grow quite tall so make sure you have the space above too. It may sound obvious but friends of mine were in danger with a powerline!

Not as tall as Leylandii Jason. If my memory serves me right the tallest tree ever grown in Britain was a Leylandii. At 320ft. Though, I could be wrong.
