Default Storing left over seeds

I have just been told to store my left over seeds in the freezer for next years use. Can that be right? I would have thought, seeds of tomatoes, cucumbers etc. will just die
Has anybody ever tried it?

Hi Shetty, I know people do store seeds in the fridge and amazingly you can store seeds in the freezer but seeds should be stored in cool, dry, moisture free conditions and I personally believe that in the dark is best. But........I wouldn't call either the fridge or freezer moisture free!

You can buy seeds so cheaply nowadays I wouldn`t bother freezing them. Keep them in a tin somewhere cool if you really want too carry them over to next year.

No, I usually don't have any left. I always feel sorry for the leftovers, so I plant them anyway and if I can't find a space for them, I give the plants away. Our local primary school have their own veg patch, but sometimes things don't grow right or some slugs come along.
They use any donations to replace their own, so the kids don't get to disheartened
Oops, hope none of them reads this
