Default Potatoes for 2011

Happy New Year Guys and Gals

I’ve had an allotment for 2 years now and I must admit its been hard going - mostly due to limited time available.

However, last year I did have a god crop of potatoes - Desiree. Still eating them, great.

This year I want to grow some more varieties. I would like to be able to say as I serve them up ‘ These are difficult to get (or expensive) but are so nice that I grew them myself, enjoy’.

So with that though in mind what special varieties should I consider for this year?

Also where should I get them and what price should I pay?

Happy digging

George

Thumbs up

Hi George,
Charlotte is a good variety to try.
It is also worthwhile looking round for a garden centre that sells seed potatoes loose. These are sold by the bag and you can walk round select varieties to try and see how you get on.

john and bantie - thanks for the replies - should seeds be in the centres by now or is it too early?
