Default Grow enough!?

Hi All

I'm wonering if anyone knows how many potatoes sould be sown?

I have a family of four and I'm growing 1st, 2nd earlies and a main crop. I bought my seed potatoes and chitted them but when I went to plant them I have far more than my meager 12m2 plot would take. I then planted three rows of 10 potatoes for the main crop and one row each for the 1st and 2nd earlies (10 potatoes per row).

So now I'm thinking have I done right?

Does anyone know how many potatoes are produced by one seed potatoe?

Any information would be apprecaited.

Paul

Most common varieties produce about 6-8 potatoes per plant.May well need some protection from frost if you have planted them already.

I agree with johnmichael! If you keep them well fed and watered, and if we get a good summer , then you'll have plenty of potatoes! I planted around 50 main crop potatoes last year and have just finished eating them now!! We did pretty much have potatoes with every meal though! My harvest filled around 4-5 25kg bags, and the potatoes were smaller than previous crops, because I neglected them a bit
