Hello one and all.
I planted 4 rows of Onion "Hercule F1" onion sets on 19/02/11 (about 9.21am if I remember correctly, lol). So the issue is some of the stems have started the lay down, and some are bending and laying down. I've not noticed high levels of wind, so is this normal? Most of the onions are still vertical! Anyone got any ideas? Kind Regards Paul ![]() |

Hi Hammer
I dug a few bags of horse manure a month or two before planting the onion sets. I've just read what the packing said! "" .........................4" between sets and 12" between rows. Lift crop when leaves bend over, usually during August, dry in sunshine and store under cool, dry forst free conditions" I don't think the onions will be ready to lift though, and i agree that they will still be growing as long as the stems remain green. Hi Im not Hungry. I think your onions look great. Wouldn't worry about them. Mine do the same thing every year, especially after a strong wind. Yours look green and healthy so no worries for now (we gardeners have to have something to worry about though, at least I do
). Keep up the good work. ![]() ![]() |

Hi Husker
Yep I know waht you mean me wife said whats up the other day? (I'm on holiday) and should be carefree, and I retorted back to her that life would indeed be great if there was not mole running amok all over the place, the bees were not resident in me main crop pots and me onion stems were still verticle! ;-) |
