Guys and Gals

I took over an allotment a few years ago and the soil is 'dead' so needs some attention.

I came across an article talking about green manure, finally realising it didn't come from a



I need some advice.

Has anyone used green manure and what was their experience with it - easy, difficult, never again? and was it worthwhile or a waste of time?.

Which ones have you used?.

Where did you get the seeds - the places I've seen charge a few £ for a
100g - seems expensive.

mustard seed is very cheap from indian supermarkets,bear in mind it's a brassica though.

i have been thinking about using green manure over this winter but which rotation bed would i put it on thinking about using mustard and the beany one would i put the mustard on the one the brassicas came out of this rotation year or the one they go in to next year

i wouldn't worry too much about the crop rotaion laws.it's definately beneficial to crops,but unless you have onion white rot or clubroot disease.it pays not to get too worked up about it.
keep your soil fit and in good order the rest nature normally sorts.
