Default Back to basics for potatoes

Back to basics for potatoes

As I’ve only grown potatoes for one year need bit of advice - may be basic, but bear with me.

Got two types in, one salad type the other run of the mill.

The second type has started to flower should I leave it or pull of the flowers.

Apart from removing earth - how can you tell if they are ready for lifting?

Regards

Hi TB, where the flowers are concerned some people do remove them but I never remove the potato plant flowers. I always wait until all the foliage on the plants has completely died down before lifting potatoes. The salad type you are growing will be a first or second early so they should be ready about 13 weeks after planting.
