Sprout Question

Hi all, I am having my best year ever growing Brussel sprouts. The plants, big and strong, are starting to develop the sprouts. I noticed last year that one of the plotholders near me removed all the leaves, not just any yellowing ones, from his plants, apart from the head, at this stage and ended up with a great crop. Does anyone on the forum use this method?
