Look at where the water source is in relation to the plot. No fun having to carry water long distances in hot weather! Check if plot is shaded by overhanging trees etc. If the plot has been cleared of weeds you will have plenty of time over late summer, autumn and winter to get it into shape for next spring. Would recommend that any ground you dig and clean up now is covered with a membrane (Mypex or similar) to prevent late seeding weeds taking over thereby meaning you have to do the work again. This will keep the ground clean and free from weeds until winter when it can be removed to let the frost get at the ground. To get a good head start aim to be on the plot at least 1 day a week. Good luck with your selection of plot. It is hard work to begin with but you will not regret the decision to take one on.
