Default finally got an allotment from local council

i have finally got my allotment from the council i have been on waiting list for about 4 yrs got it on the 25th oct 11
here is a few pics

as you can see its not been worked for a while so got some hard work a head
its about 25ft x 50ft and costs £20 a year
i was told if i keep the end bit behind the tree clear i can put raised beds on there and use that as extra on my plot which adds about another 10ft x 50ft to it
there is an association on there and i must admite everyone is really helpfull

Congratulations on finally getting your allotment! I personally would get stuck in now and dig what looks to be couch grass out. Try and remove every bit you can as any you miss will grow back with avengeance. Leave the earth exposed for the frosts to break it down. Once Christmas is over the new season will be upon us before you know it. So get the seed catalogues ordered and spend the next few weeks deciding what to grow next year. Good luck!

Well done!
Had mine for 8 years now and its big!! Found that by covering over 3/4 of the plot with black plastic and thoroughly weeding an turning over 1/4 at a time was the best way. If you can get hold of manure then stack it now if not mature then trench it in under your crops about a week before you plant out.
