I have had a Passion Flower growing along my garden fence for the past seven years. This year nothing has happened,it seems to have died.Thers are no new leaves or buds.Does anyone know why this has happened.I have always taken out the dead wood and kept it trimmed.
Hope someone has the answer. ![]() |

I can't really give any advice. I have one which usually tries to find itself crawling in through the bedroom window and end up chopping it hard back whatever the time of year - it is handy for hanging the Xmas lights on though.
So far whenever we cut back there are other shoots coming up somewhere else - in other words its a bit of a thug. Sorry about yours - you can have mine !! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I usually grow a Passion Flower plant each year. It is a real oddity in my area. Last year 2007, one was grown from seed. They do not survive the Winter here. This is the 2007 effort.
2 October 2007 Passiflora caerulea http://lijie.notlong.com 2 October 2007 Passion Flower. (Passiflora caerulea) Name corrected 27 October 2007 This plant was grown from seed, started indoors in December 2006, and put outdoors in May 2007. It has flowered all summer, and there are always flowers present. The flowers last about two days. The fruit doesn't always form from every flower. The fruit has seeds and is rather pleasant to eat whole. If the seeds are removed before eating the outer thick flesh is insipid. This year I am going to leave it in situ to determine if it will over-winter. I am not too optimistic. It did not survive the 2007/2008 Winter. |
