Red Hot Poker's Been Taken Over

My red hot poker plant has been taken over by an enormous grass. It's a lovely grass with seed heads but I've lost my r.h.poker plant. There are only two very short and small poker flower heads. Can I rescue it? The problem I have is that I can't tell the difference between the grass and the poker leaves so I can't pull out the grass. Any suggestions of how I can rescue my red hot poker please?
