Default Plant Identification Please

We moved last year and one of the borders looked empty, after waiting awhile to see if anything came up, it didn't look as if anything was planted, so i put in a few shrubs, but after 5/6 weeks noticed the whole area was alive with this plant. I ended up taking the shrubs out to try and get rid of the plant. I tried digging some of it up and weed killing the rest, using a weed killer that went to the roots but didn't harm the soil. This was done twice and on the third time of growing back i left it.
The plants grow into the lawn and grow inside the greenhouse its really quite invasive and must have been there quite awhile. It grows about 1ft high and has 2ft flower stems, it has a scent and the flowers are Lilac in colour. I took a photo but it's in it's winter state.
Please advise
