Default Covering the walls

Guys and Gals

I live in a new build and as you can imagine on such estates all the houses look the same; need something to make the house different. I was thinking of climbers for the front walls. Any suggestions?. The front of the house gets the sunshine (when we have it most of the afternoon). Looking for something evergreen and colourful.

Do climbers cause damage to the wall structure, or is that an urban myth? Be better if they were self supporting

Where is the best place to buy - can they be grown from seed?

Best regards

I would suggest a Clematis Montana. they grow quickly and cover a nice lot of space with, I believe, ever-green leaves. Spring brings lovely palest pink flowers. I have one in my garden that grows up an arbor - it is very easy to train... I'm a complete novice and just tuck in the odd shoot where I want it to go:

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it self supporting and will it grow up to the guttering - very balnk walls to make good looking

Mine is growing up an arbor, which looks like it has just got a small amount of wire mesh around it for when it was small and starting out.

My mums says that this type of clematis is "fool proof" and grows quickly.
