Question Growing from seed - help!

I bought some seeds recently, Sweet William "Double mixture" and Viola "Johnny Jump Up"

I was told that I could sow the Sweet Williams now for them to come up next year, but I am not sure if that is correct.

I do not know what to do with the Violas. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Hi Hollie,
There are 2 types of "Sweet William", Annuals & Biennials.
The Annual types are sown in March & planted out in May or when the risk of frost has passed.
The Biennial types are sown in May to June & planted out in the autumn months for flowering the next spring.
Hope the above helps,, cheers stupo.

Hi again Hollie,
The info above is only a guide, i think you could get away with sowing now, for planting in the Autumn, thus giving you some lush plants in the spring, but some with more experience may disagree.
However, i cant see what you have to lose, at 99p a packet.
cheers stupo.

The seeds were buds and trees have been growing for a long time without help from man. The natural way" to germinate the seeds of the trees, then, is to let nature take its course. Most of the seeds, once planted in the autumn, without any pretreatment, begin to germinate the following spring. Be sure to sow the seeds at the recommended depth. If seeds are planted too deeply, which may delay or prevent the germination process in the spring. With some varieties of seeds you can see the spread of germination over two or three years, with few seeds germinating in the first instance and others take more time to break dormancy and germination.
