Default Daffodil / Tulip questions

I planted some daffodil and tulip bulbs really late (early March) as lost them in the garage and when I found them the bulbs had sprouted so i stuck them in the garden to see what happened - they came up a treat, and are still flowering strongly even now, but I'm not sure what to do with them when the flowers start to fade. What do I do with the leaves? Do I cut everthing right down back to the soil? I have read that you need to cut the fading flowers so that it will use energy to form the new flower buds in the bulb.

Also got bought some mini daffodils in a decorative pot, they are now fading and I don't know what to do with them either. Do I cut them back and leave them in the pot to come back next year or do I need to transplant the bulbs outside so that they come back (they're currently in my kitchen). They were so pretty I'd love them to come back next year.

you can dead head them if you want but it's not essential, just leave the rest of the plant to die back so that the energy goes back into the bulbs. the potted narcissus might need some fresh soil or moving to a border in the autumn.

thanks I'll leave the potted ones where they are til Autum then :-)

I did read that removing the dead flowers as soon as they start to die off helps create stronger buds in the bulb for next year. Might experiment by doing some and leaving others - see if there's a difference!
