Walking in my local area, I have found free supplies of crab apple, wild plums,
chestnuts, blackberries, elderberries, and hazelnuts so far. I made a fine nettle beer with nettle tops, refreshing in a hot summer and good for you.

I always worry about what might have been 'sprayed' either from cars if near a road or from animals!

You are right don't pick near a road, may be contaminated by lead. I live in a rural area.

does that mean i shouldn't eat the Chips folks drop outside our house I have often thought of going on one of the Fungi forays organised by the local country park, but I'm not that keen on mushrooms! Still I have loooods of Blackberries in the garden curtesy of the local Bird population.

Lots of bilberries around at the moment, got to be equal favourite fruit to raspberries. I have a recipe for bilberry tart which is French I think, shortcrust pastry, pastry cream and lots of bilberries on top, but any other suggestions welcome - particularly non-alcoholic ones as OH doesn't like the taste.

Default rosehips

We went out yesterday and picked some rosehips. Hubby has made them into a syrup for adding to the kids juice. Full of vitamin c apparently, we will see how it fends off those winter colds!
Any recipes for other uses?

Many thanks Sandra

I have been searching and there aren't many recipes for rosehips. Here are some that I found.
